Airfield Escort Services Technician

Responsibilities

Escort authorized contractors, construction crews, and trucking operators to designated airfield and restricted-access areas
Communicate work locations, key site features, and required access procedures
Provide clear direction on assigned travel routes, required checkpoints, and safe maneuvering around active airfield operations
Identify and communicate known or potential hazards, including:
Active runways/taxiways
Aircraft movements
Construction activity
Variable airfield conditions
Maintain continuous visual contact and ensure escorted vehicles follow the approved route without deviation
Monitor airfield radio communications (if applicable) and follow direction from Airfield Operations or FAA Air Traffic Control
Report unsafe behaviors, security concerns, or airfield hazards encountered during escort operations
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of airport layout, construction phases, closures, and operational impacts
Complete all required logs, reports, and daily activity documentation
Adhere to all airport safety policies, security protocols, and applicable federal regulations, including Part 139 requirements

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to obtain and maintain required airport security credentials (SIDA badge, AOA access)
Strong verbal communication and coordination skills
Excellent situational awareness and hazard‑recognition abilities
Ability to remain attentive in a dynamic, safety‑sensitive environment
Strong directional awareness and comfort navigating large, complex facilities
Ability to enforce safety rules professionally and consistently
Reliable, punctual, and able to exercise sound judgment
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Able to work shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays based on construction schedules

Preferred

Additional education or training in transportation, aviation, or security
Prior experience in airfield operations, transportation, construction escorting, or security
