Programmer Analyst, Student Finance Systems

Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the Financial Aid System, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with regulations
Learn business functions to effectively participate in technical analysis, design construction, and implementation of IT solutions
Develop and implement technical solutions using a structured approach, ensuring long-term maintainability and accessibility
Utilize scripting languages (Bash/Shell script, SQL, PL/SQL, Python) to automate tasks, reduce manual intervention, and improve efficiency
Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability to detect issues early and maintain system reliability
Test coded solutions against customer acceptance criteria to ensure high-quality application performance
Troubleshoot and resolve system defects in a timely manner
Leverage AI tools for system testing and solution design
Maintain consistent and accurate documentation for all application projects, including new developments and maintenance
Ensure documentation is complete, understandable, and accessible for future reference
Establish and maintain a productive working relationship with end-users and internal/external stakeholders
Participate in system review sessions and product strategy discussions
Report status updates to project leadership, manager, and director
Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to knowledge-sharing efforts
Ability to read financial aid rules and regulations and translate them into system processes
Support the integration of business logic into IT solutions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Support additional IT initiatives and projects as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
At least two years of experience working with operating environments, toolsets, and IT methodologies
Proficiency in Bash/Shell script, SQL, PL/SQL, Python
Ability to read financial aid rules and regulations and translate them into system processes
Experience supporting ProSAM or similar financial aid solutions is a plus
Understanding of RAD (Rapid Application Development), SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), and Client-Server/Distributed Application Design and Development
Experience working with financial aid systems and regulations is a plus
Preferred
Knowledge of COBOL and Tomcat/Web Services is beneficial but not required
