Staff Engineer - CDN and Caching

The Staff Engineer will be responsible for managing caching aspects of SlingTV and ensuring reliable content delivery through collaboration with internal teams and external providers.

Responsibilities

Responsible for linear and tiered caching aspects of SlingTV, DISHAnywhere, and Dish Network LLOTT service delivery
Work with internal content delivery teams and external providers to ensure reliable delivery of content to customers
Python and Bash scripting along with Salt Stack configuration and management
Monitor cache performance and ensure a reliable experience by participating in a 24 x 7 on-call rotation
Configure and support deployment automation on virtual and physical assets
Document architecture and essential function methodologies by methodical troubleshooting, clear communications, and attention to detail

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
10+ years experience working with Linux and VMware and scripting in Bash or Python
In-depth knowledge of Apache, HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, Varnish, Linux and other open source software
Provide on-call support on a rotational basis as assigned

Preferred

Preferred experience with the following: New Relic, DynaTrace, Artifactory, PagerDuty, SaltStack, vCenter and administering virtualized servers, Atlassian based software (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence), High Availability services
