The NYS Office of General Services is seeking an Architect 1 to perform architectural design and project management duties for complex architectural projects. The role involves preparing architectural drawings, managing project schedules, and overseeing consultant design work.

Responsibilities
Perform architectural design and project management duties to complete complex architectural projects for new and rehabilitation of building plans and designs
Prepare architectural drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff
Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other technical disciplines
Actively manage the schedule of assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules
Review reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants
Actively oversee consultant design work for assigned projects
Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress
Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project’s construction
Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including reviewing the work of subordinate staff
Qualification
Required
Possess a New York State Architect license and current registration
Current New York State Office of General Services employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as an Assistant Architect AND possess a NYS Registered Architect's license with current registration and must not have failed the last holding of examination
Currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR possess an architect license and current registration in NYS AND have one year or more of permanent service as a Facilities Planner 2, or a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Construction) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
