Responsibilities
Conduct day-to-day operations of customer networks including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu)
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and optimize system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Implement proactive measures to identify and address potential bottlenecks or performance degradation
Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and malware threats
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for Linux systems
Manage the patching process for Linux servers, including scheduling, testing, and deploying software updates and security patches in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with patch management policies and procedures
Develop automation scripts and tools using shell scripting (e.g., Bash), Python, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks, automate repetitive processes, and improve operational efficiency
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including key stakeholders to support project initiatives and resolve technical issues
Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal users and teams regarding Linux-related issues. Diagnose problems and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship
Must have an active Secret clearance and obtain a TS/SCI clearance
3+ years of directly relevant experience in Linux System Administrator
Proficiency in managing and maintaining Linux servers (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu)
Strong understanding of Linux file systems, permissions, and security
Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.)
Experience with network troubleshooting and security (firewalls, security groups, NACLs)
Three (3) or more years of direct experience
Preferred
Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation and task management
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
