Engineering Manager - Electrical and I&C Systems Applications

The Engineering Manager of Electrical and I&C Systems Applications will lead a multidisciplinary team to adapt new plant technology for customer sites, ensuring compliance with local codes and standards while supporting project development and execution.

Responsibilities
Build and mentor a multidisciplinary team of Electrical and I&C engineers, promoting a culture of nuclear safety, technical excellence, and project accountability
Oversee the evaluation of standard plant design against site-specific requirements, including any reconciliation of the design with customer needs and local site conditions (e.g., grid frequency, ambient temperatures, seismic data)
Lead the team in mapping standard designs to local codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NRC, or country-specific equivalents) and ensure all I&C architecture meets local licensing requirements
Approve site-specific modifications to electrical systems, control logic, and human-machine interface (HMI) requirements
Act as the primary point of contact for new customers and local regulators regarding Electrical and I&C system design and compliance
Contribute to an engineering team that assures proposals and early works packages for selected sites are compatible with our standard product offering
Establish and maintain strong working relationship with internal engineering teams
Interface with external partners, customers, and other applicable country specific regulatory agencies as required on technical issues
Work with proposal and early works teams to build estimates, schedules, and identify risks associated with different opportunities
Provide guidance to external partner engineering resources to ensure the quality of deliverables
Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities
Protect the Intellectual Property rights of GEVH
Support GEVH initiatives, corrective action, process improvement and simplification
Ensure adherence to GEVH’s standards for nuclear safety and compliance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, I&C Engineering, or related discipline
At least 10 years of progressive experience in electric power systems engineering
At least 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent large scale new build experience in the power generation industry
At least 3 years of proven experience managing and directing an engineering team of 10-20 persons
Preferred
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering discipline or similar
Professional Engineer registration in one or more states
Experience with Medium and Low Voltage electric power systems
Experience with power generation facility grid interface design
Deep knowledge of one or more sets of grid code requirements, U.S. and/or international
Experience with navigating requirements management and adapting high-level requirements to new jurisdictions
A “product” mindset that blends high safety and quality standards with the drive to deliver on customer needs in a cost-effective manner
Proven ability to be a liaison between organizations that are operating in separate geographic locations
High performing individual with demonstrated ability to deliver results while exhibiting behaviors that promote strong team performance
Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to think strategically, be creative and move quickly
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of highly experienced engineers and balance multiple demands and priorities

Experience with project management skillset (communication, risk, planning/scheduling, change mgmt)
EPC experience and knowledge; specifically, power plant
Understanding of nuclear industry and technology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
