Responsibilities
Manage standard costing, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and variance analysis
Maintain and improve cost accounting policies and procedures in alignment with company goals and compliance standards
Ensure accurate and timely recording of manufacturing costs and inventory transactions
Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost accounting
Provide actionable insights to finance and operations teams to improve financial performance
Oversee inventory accounting, including reconciliation, valuation, and analysis of excess and obsolete inventory
Implement controls and best practices to improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for inventory-related costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead
Identify opportunities to enhance cost accounting systems and reporting accuracy
Collaborate with IT and finance teams to improve ERP integration and automation of cost accounting processes
Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and engineering teams to understand cost drivers and support strategic initiatives
Provide financial guidance for product development, sourcing decisions, and production planning
Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and company policies
Support internal and external audits with accurate and timely documentation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including 5+ years in a leadership role
Expertise in standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and cost forecasting
Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
Proven track record of driving process improvements and cost control initiatives
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work under tight deadlines
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred
