Utility Systems Repairer-Operator

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Utility Systems Repairer Operator (USRO) for their Gainesville/Lake City Division. The USRO will conduct generator tests, manage building automation systems, and identify and repair faulty equipment in large HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

Conducts the monthly generator test connected to hospital load for the medical center Emergency Generators
Responsible for both Building Automation and Control Systems and any alarms received on them
Will stand as Graphic Control Operator in charge of the Central Energy Plan in the absence of the Operations Supervisor
Identifies faulty equipment causes and makes repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating
Work Schedule: Sunday - Saturday - Eight (8) hour rotating shift work to meet 24/7 Operations
Position Description Title/PD#: Utility Systems Repairer-Operator/PD03391A Physical Requirements: The work requires carrying of equipment, tools and testing devices that seldom weigh over 50 pounds
Most of the equipment can be reached from the floor or from ladders
Occasionally, platforms and scaffolding are needed to reach parts of the systems such as fans, electrical and water lines and duct work
The incumbent is required to stoop, stretch, bend, kneel and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Chain hoists and various rigging are used for manipulating units weighing up to 5000 pounds

Must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position
