Conduct fast, accurate image research for Alexa Magazine and the wider Photo Department on an as-needed basis
Source photography from agencies, publicists, archives, internal databases, and direct outreach
Negotiate licensing and fees when needed, following department guidelines
Process high volumes of images with efficiency (batch renaming, resizing, metadata embedding, captioning, rights info). Per department workflow, basic color correction and simple crops are performed in this role. All advanced creative such as retouching, layout adjustments, and design-driven edits fall under the Art Department
Ability to identify and flag images that require correction, retouching or compositing for the Art/Design teams, but not performing those edits independently
Maintain the digital grid; create and update project folders; organize assets by production stage
Prepare tidy, accurate selects folders for color and credit workflows
Uphold editorial accuracy, rights compliance, and proper formatting in all delivered assets
Maintain clear, timely communication across multiple platforms and parallel projects
Participate as part of the Photo Department structure; while assigned to Alexa, any extra availability supports the PhotoDesk
Gather and fact-check photo credits for print, digital, and social platforms, upholding editorial accuracy and proper formatting in all delivered assets
Assist with Google Workspace tasks: callsheets, shared drives, decks, schedule updates, and file organization, with strong attention to detail in all prepared materials
Support the Photo Editor on shoots in a Production Assistant capacity (coffee runs, pickups, greeting arrivals, on-the-ground logistics)
Assist with HMU outreach, callsheets and general shoot logistics; arrange administrative details such as car services, catering, supplies
Be onsite for final color-correction checkpoints before ship, identifying color inconsistencies and relaying precise, actionable feedback for internal corrections to the appropriate channels
Contribute to our recurring 'Cover Reveal' photo op, featured on our Instagram, by helping to ideate and capture a simple creative shot for each issue—this is a fun, contained creative assignment specific to this task and does not expand the role’s overall creative, editorial, or art direction scope
