STEMCAP Program Coordinator

The University of Utah is seeking a STEMCAP Program Coordinator to enhance educational opportunities for incarcerated youth through various programming initiatives. The role involves creating and leading STEM and art programming, facilitating events, and supporting partnerships to benefit youth in custody.

Responsibilities

Attend, facilitate, and document youth center presentations/events
Create STEM and/or Art programming for justice-impacted youth
Correspond with youth center teachers and administrators to ensure schedules, workshop plans, and supply lists are cleared
Work with presenters to create age and setting-appropriate hands-on activities for STEMCAP workshops
Assist in efforts to recruit presenters
Assist in organizing and maintaining data, presentations, and other STEMCAP files
Research and contact local organizations to build connections that benefit youth
Co-manage the STEMCAP calendar and develop semester programming schedules
Facilitate transportation for lecturers to STEMCAP workshops in Salt Lake, Davis, and Utah County
Work with external evaluators to provide surveys to presenters and teachers
Attend presenter orientation meetings and provide input and support as presenters craft their workshop for STEMCAP audiences
Maintain a database of all presentation data

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience)
Two years related experience
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
Extremely well organized and able to keep track of multiple deadlines and competing priorities
Excellent oral and written communication skills and collaborative working skills
Demonstrated experience in file and calendar management
Demonstrated experience in community engagement

Preferred

A Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field, social science, science education, science communication, or related field
Experience working with justice-impacted individuals
Experience leading informal education programming for middle or high school students
Experience fostering partnerships
