Responsibilities
Oversee a team of GIS professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure project success and promote professional development. Fostering a culture based on innovation, collaboration, and empowerment
Develop and implement effective tactics for the efficient collection, editing, analysis, visualization, delivery, and management of spatial data and related solutions, adhering to department metrics for backlog volume, turnaround times, and solution delivery milestones
Build and maintain strong relationships with peer leaders and primary stakeholders, understanding their needs, prioritizing initiatives, and providing tailored GIS solutions to optimize the management of electric utility infrastructure
Manage end-to-end GIS processes and projects for internal customers utilizing agile principles, ensuring quality, timeliness, and value for the customers
Lead and oversee GIS projects with a specific focus on asset management, ensuring the effective utilization of spatial data for infrastructure planning, operations, and maintenance
Collaborate with GIS Manager, IT, and primary stakeholders on strategic planning and road mapping for leveraging GIS technology & intelligence to enhance decision-making processes
Provides daily supervision, coordination, and mentorship of GIS personnel including individual coaching, development, and mentoring. Assists leadership in defining metrics, assesses staff performance against metrics, and conducts routine staff reviews. Performs recruiting and hiring for department resources
Stay abreast of advancements in GIS technology and applications, and apply innovative solutions to enhance APS’s utilization of the ESRI ArcGIS suite of solutions and complementary software
Assists in administering company policies and procedures related to area(s) of responsibility, ensuring staff and operational decisions comply with the policies
Evaluate, leverage and oversee contract services when needed to create staffing flexibility and support department goals, while managing the department spend to meet budget expectations
Qualification
Required
BS degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science/Analytics or related field and seven (7) years of experience of GIS, mapping, analysis, cartography, and data analytics, or related experience with demonstrated leadership skills
Strong understanding of business processes and data
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and tie functional needs to GIS solutions
Demonstrated abilities in planning, organizing and delegating
Extensive familiarity with power line construction
Comprehensive understanding of engineering, construction, customer service and operations standards, practices and procedures
Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency with ArcGIS, ArcFM, network model management, and Office 365
