Lendmarq is a direct real estate lender providing specialty bridge and term loan products to residential real estate investors throughout the country. They are seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter to oversee credit analysis, evaluate risk, and ensure loans align with company standards and investor requirements.

Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative credit analysis
Evaluate complex borrower to determine repayment capacity and creditworthiness
Identify, assess, and flag credit risks, including irregularities that may not be captured by standard guidelines
Ensure each loan is a quality asset—structured to protect the company’s balance sheet while maintaining marketability in the secondary market
Review loan requests for policy exceptions, document variances, and provide recommendations for cures
Perform risk reviews and quality-control checks at various stages of the loan cycle
Verify third-party due diligence reviews fall within company guidelines to reduce risk
Work with both internal & external partners to resolve complex deal structures and underwriting scenarios
Prepare and present comprehensive credit memos and presentations for internal approval committees and external counterparties
Clearly articulate underwriting decisions, rationale, and risk considerations to all stakeholders in a professional, concise manner
Review borrower documentation to clear outstanding loan conditions
Communicate effectively with internal teams, borrowers, and external partners to facilitate timely resolution and loan closings
Take ownership of meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and deliver accurate, timely underwriting decisions
Partner with secondary market teams to prepare and package loans for sale
Ensure all required documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with investor guidelines
Actively involved in the secondary market activities and initiatives within new and existing loan products including fix and flip, DSCR, bridge, and construction loans
Demonstrate independence in decision-making while remaining open to alternative perspectives and input from peers and leadership
Qualification
Required
Minimum 3–5 years of mortgage underwriting or credit analysis experience, preferably within private lending, investment lending including fix & flip, DSCR, bridge, and construction loans
Strong risk assessment and cash flow modeling for investment properties
Excellent written & verbal skills; able to draft clear, persuasive credit memos
High attention to detail and the ability to make sound, independent credit decisions
Thorough understanding of mortgage loan structures and secondary market expectations
Familiarity with risk management frameworks and underwriting systems
Proven track record handling complex borrower profiles and structured loan products
