Financial Aid Counselor - Solano Campus

Provide a comprehensive program of financial aid and support services to students
Determine eligibility for and award federal, state, institutional and private grants, scholarships, and work and loan programs
Utilize a proactive approach to meet and monitor students' financial eligibility
Interpret and apply program rules and regulations
Collect, compile, analyze, and evaluate data and make presentations based on these data
Qualification
Required
Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office or the ability to rapidly acquire that knowledge
Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to take initiative, set priorities, and work independently utilizing resources and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations
Excellent oral and written communication skills, active listening skills, and emotional intelligence necessary to communicate with tact and diplomacy regarding sensitive and confidential financial matters
Ability to collect, compile, analyze, and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field
Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field
A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis
