International Freight Analyst
AFX Inc. is seeking an International Freight Analyst to support the Plant Manager as part of the Logistics team. The role involves managing and coordinating international logistics operations with a focus on U.S. Customs compliance and import accuracy while working cross-functionally with various departments and external partners.
Responsibilities
Maintain the Shipping Order Log and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all international shipments
Conduct weekly reviews of direct import shipments to ensure schedule adherence, cost control, and documentation compliance
Approve and coordinate buyer consolidation containers with suppliers and freight forwarders
Award supplier bookings and coordinate shipment execution with approved freight forwarders
Monitor and manage freight forwarder, customs broker, and supplier performance; identify issues and drive resolution
Review, approve, and submit freight forwarder, customs broker, and CBP invoices to Accounting for payment
Review and approve monthly statements of account with freight forwarders, brokers, and CBP
Receive direct import purchase orders and invoice corresponding sales orders accurately and on time
Maintain and update landed cost calculations for imported goods
Maintain U.S. Harmonized Tariff Codes (USHTC) within the Syspro ERP system
Process and manage customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, ISF filings, entries, and other required import documents
Maintain a working understanding of ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) and support compliance activities as required
File, upload, and manage shipment documentation in forwarder portals and customer systems to ensure compliance with customer requirements
Publish and manage the Annual International Freight RFQ process
Provide backup support for the Distribution Operations Analyst as required
Stay current on CBP regulations, import compliance requirements, and international freight market conditions
Monitor international ocean freight market dynamics and provide insight on rate trends, capacity, and risk
Execute duties in a highly time-sensitive environment requiring accuracy and attention to detail
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of international freight operations and import logistics
Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, USHTC classification, landed cost tracking, and required import documentation
Working understanding of ACE; hands-on experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; strong analytical and reporting capabilities required
High level of accuracy with acute attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform both analytical and clerical work efficiently and accurately
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Highly organized, process-driven, and comfortable working cross-functionally
Preferred
Experience with imports from Asia strongly preferred
Familiarity with Syspro ERP system preferred
