Responsibilities
Assist in designing and implementing automated workflows for data processing and analysis
Develop tools to clean, transform, and organize large datasets for downstream analysis
Collaborate with laboratory scientists to understand current workflows and process, data requirements, and integrate solutions into existing processes
Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement
Maintain well-documented code to ensure reproducibility
Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute ideas for improving data handling and automation strategies
Qualification
Required
Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a BS in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics or a related quantitative field
Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college
Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program
Basic proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
Familiarity with data cleaning, transformation, and visualization techniques
Understanding of fundamental concepts in data structures and algorithms
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Preferred
Experience with pandas or pyspark is a plus
Willingness to learn cloud platforms for data processing, analytics, and more (familiarity is a plus)
Interest in applying data science to clinical diagnostic tools is a plus
