Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to combat fraudulent claims in No-Fault and other cases
Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other Affirmative Actions
Develop litigation strategies on complex legal matters
Review case files and plan resolutions
Draft discovery requests, motions, memorandums, and legal briefs
Prepare for and conduct Depositions and Examinations Under Oath (EUOs)
Attend arbitrations, mediations, and trials
Work with expert witness in the preparation of, or defense of litigation
Represent the company in court appearances (conferences, hearings) in State and Federal courts
Draft pre-trial and post-trial motions
Negotiate settlements and prepare related documentation
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
Federal Court Admission or the ability to seek admission upon selection for this role
7 or more years of experience
Ability to manage complex litigation
Strong research and writing skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications
Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality
Demonstrates ethics and integrity
Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
A team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues on a daily basis
Preferred
Preferred experience litigating medical and other types of fraud
Preferred Federal Court experience
Preferred insurance industry experience
