Responsibilities
Working with advanced mechanical work that includes the most technical diagnostic, repair, and rebuilding work (e.g. complete engine, transmission, or component unit disassembly, rebuilding, re-assembly, testing, etc.) in reference to motor coaches
Perform the full range of mechanical repairs necessary to maintain transit vehicles and equipment within acceptable work standards with a minimum of supervision
Drive city buses, trucks and related duties when required
Other duties may be assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
21 years of age or older
A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Permit upon hire
A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (“P”) and air brake endorsements or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire
General Mechanic I- Minimum of 1 year of responsible work experience working with gas and diesel engines. General Mechanic II - Minimum of 3 years of responsible work experience working with gas and diesel engines
Federal Medical Card required by the US Department of Transportation and Wisconsin Department of Transportation
Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered
Preferred
Transit Bus Technician Certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is desired
Section 609 Technician Certification from the United States Environmental Protection Agency or the ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
