Layout Specialist

They are seeking a Layout Specialist to lead a field survey crew, conduct various types of land surveys, and ensure accurate data collection while coordinating with project managers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage a field survey crew in conducting topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and other types of land surveys
Set up and operate GPS equipment, total stations, levels, and other surveying instruments
Ensure accurate data collection, including measurements, angles, and elevations
Conduct detailed field notes, sketches, and records to document survey data and site conditions
Coordinate daily tasks and schedules for the survey crew to ensure project deadlines are met
Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding project requirements and progress
Interpret survey data and provide recommendations for project design and construction
Ensure accuracy and precision of survey work, including verification of data and cross-checking of measurements
Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues encountered in the field
Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and safety standards
Ensure proper care, maintenance, and calibration of surveying equipment and tools
Report any equipment issues or needs for replacement to the appropriate department
Prepare and submit detailed survey reports, including sketches, maps, and digital data files
Maintain organized and up-to-date records of survey activities and findings
Provide input into the preparation of project plans, estimates, and schedules
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Typically 3-5 years of experience in land surveying and/or construction layout, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Trimble equipment experience, required
Experience with a variety of survey types, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as GPS units, total stations, levels, and data collectors
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and coordinate with other stakeholders
Problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise in the field
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in data collection and reporting
Strong communication skills a must
Preferred
An associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field is a plus
Electrical, Structural and Civil plan reading experience, a plus
AutoCAD and Microsoft office experience, a plus
