Responsibilities

Teach foundational biomedical engineering courses in classroom and laboratory settings
Promote a hands-on learning environment
Engage in research and/or scholarly activity
Foster student innovation and creativity
Integrate teaching and applied research functions in a multidisciplinary environment at the undergraduate and graduate level
Lead and mentor students in applied research in areas pertinent to biomedical engineering
Develop new technical courses within the candidate's area of expertise
Perform service activities at all levels of the University

Required

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering / Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent
Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) will be considered but must provide proof that the doctorate was awarded prior to or by the start of the appointment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interests in undergraduate and graduate teaching
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language

Preferred

Demonstrated excellence in university level teaching and research (commensurate with time since degree)
Experience with laboratory-based instruction and/or industry experience
Experience and a commitment to working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting
Active engagement in scholarship and professional development
Knowledge of industry practices
Working knowledge in modern design and analysis tools
Willingness to teach in multiple areas of the undergraduate and graduate biomedical engineering curriculum
Experience working with a broad range of student populations and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
Ability to teach courses in areas of department need including: Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Biomedical imaging, Biomedical modeling and simulation, Bioinstrumentation, Biotransport, Engineering design, Engineering physiology, Cell and gene therapy
