Responsibilities
Performs maintenance to trails throughout the Ridge to Rivers trail system. Maintenance includes tread and drainage feature reconstruction, pruning, log removal, and loose rock removal. Constructs trail features utilizing native and non-native materials. Features include bridges, puncheons, turnpikes, retaining walls and new trail segments for trails open to foot, mountain bike, horse, and motorized users. Constructs and maintains post and rail and smooth wire fences
Provides information to the general public regarding trails and trail use while working in assigned areas. Helps supervisory staff lead volunteers on various trail projects
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time
Qualification
Required
Six months' experience performing general trail construction and maintenance, or similar landscaping or agricultural experience
Working knowledge of trail maintenance and construction techniques
Ability to operate ATV's and mountain bikes in steep mountainous terrain
Ability to utilize hand and power tools in a safe manner
Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain while carrying tools and equipment
Ability to interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner
Ability to display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion
Ability to understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations
Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance
Ability to perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record
Valid state-issued driver's license
Applicants must be able to pass City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
