SR. DATA SCIENTIST / IT SME SPECIALIST
VSolvit is a technology services provider specializing in cybersecurity and data solutions. They are seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to work with DEA data, applying statistical and machine learning techniques to derive insights and drive data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities
Work with large DEA data using descriptive statistics and data visualization tools
Create insights from existing DEA data, and drive the collection of new data and ways to address new data
Collaborate with clients and team members to understand and communicate results, and to put insights into operation
Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytical systems
Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
Work with other team members such as those focused on Data warehousing, Tools development, software development, DevOps, systems analysts etc
Design accurate and scalable prediction algorithms
Collaborate with engineering team to bring analytical prototypes to production
Generate actionable insights for business improvements

Must be able to pass a DEA Security Approval
Team experience (i.e., managing tasks with other Data Scientists; communicator to client and other DEA Team Leads; good communication skills orally and in writing)
At least 2 years of data science and custom Machine Learning and AI model training experience solved ‘real world' problem (to include supervised and unsupervised) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) expertise focusing on unstructured data with Anaconda, VScode with Git Version control
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
5+ years' of professional experience in data science and analysis
5+ years' Python, “R” or other scripting languages
2+ years' database experience
ML practice – using scikit learn, tensorflow, or pytorch and perform DEA (Data exploration Analysis), clean data, model selection, feature selection/tuning, and deployment
2+ years' experience with data visualization tools
Utilize a strong understanding of Machine Learning basics to design and implement effective models for [specific industry/sector] applications
Professional experience in implementing and deploying Deep Learning models to solve complex problems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams as a team player to integrate data science solutions into our products and services
Demonstrate excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and team members
Utilize Git for version control, ensuring effective collaboration and code management within the team
Embrace Agile methodologies to adapt to fast-paced development cycles and deliver high-quality results
Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization techniques
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Dedication to continued learning, be team-oriented, self-driven, quality minded, and customer-friendly

Preferred
Graduate degree in a quantitative social science or a STEM field highly desired
10+ years' of professional experience in data science and analysis
10+ years' Python, “R” or other scripting languages
5+ years' of relational database experience
5+ years of non-relational/big data experience
Experience or knowledge of ELK may be helpful
Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc
Proficiency in using data query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig, Pandas, MongoDB
Proficiency in big data modeling work: Hadoop, Pig, Scala, Spark
Good, applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc
Substantial experience with statistics and the scientific method, and the ability to perform self-directed hypothesis-driven research
