Senior Demolition Oversight Technician
WSP is a global leader in environmental consulting, seeking a Senior Demolition Oversight Technician for their Novi, Michigan office. The role involves providing technical leadership for decommissioning and demolition projects, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards while mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities
Examine and interpret written and graphic construction plans, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation
Monitor progress and completion of contractor work, including performing site inspections for adherence to project specifications and plans, regulatory requirements, and health, safety, and environmental requirements
Perform material sampling when needed
Provide leadership and direction to junior-level field staff in the execution of monitoring/oversight requirements
Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook
Prepare periodic (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly) reports related to work progress across multiple sites
Examine contractor and consultant reports related to materials testing and examination and anticipate any risks to project objectives
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma
9+ years of demolition oversight experience, including regulated materials (e.g., asbestos-containing materials, PCB-containing materials, universal waste) abatement, and demolition via explosive and/or non-explosive means and methods of commercial and/or industrial facilities
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications, permit requirements, test data, schedules and budgets
Familiar with relevant environmental and construction laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively, professionally, and succinctly to a technical and non-technical audience
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
Ability to perform physical activities required such as squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain
Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
Travel for extended periods may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a closely-related discipline
Licensure as a Michigan Asbestos Building Inspector, or ability to obtain licensure
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
Deep abatement and demolition oversight experience, with decommissioning, remediation, civil, and/or vertical construction oversight experience beneficial
