Data Center Technician

They are seeking a Data Center Technician to provide enterprise server hardware and network support, manage parts and inventory, and ensure maximum uptime and service quality in a data center environment.

Responsibilities
Enterprise server hardware and network support in a data center
Parts management/inventory, warranty, and non-warranty
Follow best practices in all aspects of job-related safety, standard configuration per OEM specifications, process, and communications within a large team
Incident management and documentation
Installation and troubleshooting of server and storage hardware
Installing copper/fiber cable and racking of network equipment
Analyzing systems errors or anomalies, as well as specific server/storage performance issues and/or error messages, to ensure maximum uptime and service quality, and assess trends that may ultimately result in degradation of service
Maintain and service data center hardware equipment (primarily mid to high-end servers and other storage devices)
Provide top-notch service to our customers to ensure 100% customer loyalty
Manage the hardware maintenance needs of their assigned accounts
Be passionate about helping people and fixing problems
Understand and practice proactive service and data center safety methodology
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED is required
5+ years or more as a hardware technician
Experience working in an enterprise data center environment
Strong customer service, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills are a must
Experience with all OEM platforms with emphasis on SUN Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows operating systems, Sun servers, HP Servers, Dell servers, and Lenovo servers
Experience building, installing, and troubleshooting servers along with structured cabling (copper and fiber)
Incident management and documentation experience required, preferably Cherwell, Remedy, or ServiceNow ITSM and CMDB tools
Must be skilled with basic hand tools and rack-level assembly techniques
Ability to multitask in a quick-paced environment
Lifting up to 70 lbs. and bending/twisting/kneeling to work on various sizes of equipment
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred
BA/AA in computer science, electronic engineering, or related IT field
Strong understanding of network typologies and protocols
Familiarity with change control processes in ITIL framework
Cisco, Dell, and Lenovo certifications
