Fluid Systems Design Engineer II - Upper Stage

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. The Fluid Systems Design Engineer II will support the development and operations of the New Glenn upper stage, focusing on the design, development, and delivery of flight hardware for fluid systems.

Responsibilities

You will ensure complete definition (requirements) of the components
You will guide or complete the design and analysis of your components
For procured components, you will work with suppliers or other Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components
For in-house components, you will own the design and development
You will lead testing and verification including development, qualification, and acceptance testing
You will manage the project plans including cost, schedule, and risk management to ensure timely delivery
You will work collaboratively with the team delivering your components, including cross-functional contributors as an integral part of the team

Required

B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
3+ years of experience in an aerospace propulsion or fluid subject area
Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)
Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze pressurized systems and secondary structures (ANSYS preferred)
Experience with analysis/calculations of flow through components or systems
Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators, pressure vessels)

Preferred

5+ years' experience in fluid systems design
Experience with launch vehicles, launch vehicle upper stages, spacecraft, or satellites
Experience in all phases of the product development cycle from definition through operation
Experience in design, fabrication and testing of components for launch vehicle or ground support systems
Proven understanding of aerospace materials and treatments
Experience with cryogenic fluids including liquid Oxygen and Hydrogen
Experience with the design and development of seals
Experience designing and analyzing bolted joints
Hardware procurement and prototyping experience
