The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is seeking a Departmental Analyst for the Office of Nutrition Services to support various federal food programs. The role involves analyzing and monitoring child nutrition program eligibility and procurement activities related to USDA food distribution.

Responsibilities

Complete ordering, receipt, and utilization of USDA foods for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) partner agencies
Support procurement-related activities for Child Nutrition Programs including support for sponsor level procurement and monitoring reviews
Facilitate logistics, ordering, receipt, and distribution of USDA Foods for Schools
Analyze, research, evaluate, and monitor the child nutrition program student eligibility and school eligibility data used to provide meal benefits to students
Support all MDE activities related to program eligibility data used for Child Nutrition Programs including the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (Summer-EBT) program
Analyze and evaluate program deficiencies, develop corrective action plans with specific deadlines for compliance, and provide potential solutions
Analyze relevant eligibility data to provide a coordinated approach to the mission of improving health and nutrition outcomes for Michigan’s children

Required

A bachelor's degree or higher in any major
At least one year of professional level experience in the state classified service
The educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement
Experience in writing reports, business communications, technical documents, or formal evaluations
Experience developing training materials, conducting training programs, and/or public speaking
Experience analyzing and compiling data using Excel, Access, or some other similar software
Experience providing technical assistance, guidance and/or customer service
Experience monitoring or reviewing programs for compliance with specific regulations and/or rules
Experience in food/nutrition program electronic systems
Experience in Federal Nutrition Programs and/or Child Nutrition programs
Ability to work onsite two days per week
Ability to relocate to Michigan if currently residing outside of Michigan
