Responsibilities
Receive incoming specimens to ensure proper transport and specimen integrity
Verify specimen information such as patient identification and test orders
Accurately and efficiently enter patient data and specimen information into the LIMS/operation metrics
Label specimens accurately according to the SOPs
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the accessioning area
Assist with resolving accessioning issues to include, but not limited to, test requisition discrepancies, missing information, etc
Communicate with Customer Service to escalate and resolve any specimen accession related issues
Adhere to and uphold all applicable federal and state compliance regulations as well as Company’s compliance policies and procedures, accrediting agency policies and procedures
Additional tasks as delegated by the Supervisor/Manager
Qualification
Required
Associates Degree (minimum)
1+ years of experience equivalent to an Accessioning Technician preferred
Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory
Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills and proficiency in data entry
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree, preferred with 60+ course hours in science domain
Certification in medical laboratory science or a related field
