Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printing, and network connectivity issues (LAN, WAN, VPN) in a Windows environment, providing Level 1 support to end users
Answer and manage incoming calls to the IT and Public Safety helpdesk lines, addressing inquiries promptly and escalating complex issues to senior team members as needed
Collaborate with the Public Safety Specialist to provide administrative and technical support to Public Safety departments, including equipment setup, troubleshooting, and coordination of IT-related needs
Install, configure, customize, and upgrade devices (PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, servers) and connect them to networks, ensuring optimal performance
Create, modify, disable, and delete user accounts in accordance with organizational standards and policies
Track IT assets and software licenses, ensuring compliance and accurate documentation
Perform basic networking diagnostics and support to maintain connectivity and system reliability
Assist with software releases, patches, and updates to ensure systems remain secure and up-to-date
Document technical issues, resolutions, and trends; escalate Level 2/3 issues to appropriate senior staff with clear summaries
Communicate with vendors to resolve hardware/software compatibility issues, obtain quotes, and arrange repairs
Identify opportunities to streamline IT support processes and enhance service delivery for both IT and Public Safety functions
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
2+ years of experience supporting IBM-compatible PCs, peripherals, or similar IT systems
Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to remote sites
Preferred
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications
Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
Intermediate to advanced expertise in Windows 7, 10, and 11
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (2016, 2019, Microsoft 365), including Outlook, Teams, Visio, and Project
Familiarity with modern deployment tools (e.g., zero-touch imaging, SCCM, or similar)
Basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Ability to methodically assess and resolve technical issues with sound judgment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to summarize technical issues, document service desk requests, and interact with diverse stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills to provide exceptional support to end users and Public Safety personnel
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Comfort working independently or with minimal supervision, adapting to fluctuating priorities
Experience with modems, displays, keyboards, mice, printers, and cabling
