Finance Accounting Manager
Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO) is seeking a Finance Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. The role involves managing the full accounting cycle, ensuring compliance, and supporting financial reporting and grant management.

Responsibilities
Maintain and manage all accounting records using QuickBooks Online
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Manage new vendor setup, including W-9 collection and AH onboarding
Track and reconcile corporate credit card activity and payments
Maintain organized financial records and ensure strong internal controls
Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts on a monthly basis
Administer payroll processing, including benefits and retirement plans
Ensure payroll accuracy, allocations, and compliance with applicable regulations
Prepare monthly financial statements and budget reports, including variance analyses
Perform journal entries, allocations, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
Assist in the development and management of the annual operating budget
Maintain and update the fixed assets schedule
Manage financial reporting and documentation for federal grants, including VA and DOL funding
Process grant reimbursements and maintain detailed expenditure records and allocations
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual grant financial reports
Coordinate audit requests and support the annual audit and Form 990 preparation
Prepare and file annual 1099 and 1096 tax forms
Collaborate with the Development team to provide financial reports and support grant applications
Respond to financial inquiries from leadership and internal stakeholders
Perform additional accounting and finance-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or accounting management
Strong mastery of U.S. GAAP principles and nonprofit accounting practices
Extensive experience using QuickBooks Online
Demonstrated experience managing complex federal grants (e.g., VA, DOL)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Responsive, dependable, and capable of delivering accurate work with quick turnaround
Professional, polished, written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
Preferred
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
