Itasca Consulting Group is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative Temporary Business Analyst to support the development of the next major version of their software. The role involves gathering requirements, defining user workflows, and ensuring that development aligns with business strategy.

Responsibilities

Gather input from customers, support, sales, marketing, and engineering teams
Analyze current product gaps, limitations, and new opportunity areas
Write clear functional and non-functional requirements
Develop user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria to guide development teams
Serve as the liaison between product management, developers, and end users
Facilitate requirement review sessions, workshops, and clarification meetings
Communicate tradeoffs related to scope, timeline, and technical constraints
Assist in defining scope for the upcoming product version or major release
Identify feature dependencies, risk areas, and cross‑module impacts
Support prioritization based on business value, user impact, and feasibility
Ensure delivered features align with documented requirements
Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validation activities
Trace requirements through design, development, and testing stages to ensure alignment

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience as a business analyst
5+ years business analyst experience in a software or technology‑focused environment
Strong skills in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder communication
Understanding software development, lifecycles and typical constraints
Ability to translate business needs into structured, actionable requirements
Excellent communication, facilitation, and analytical thinking
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to work full-time in our Minneapolis office
Successful completion of criminal background check
Verification of employment history, education, and licenses

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without present or future sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, L-1, TN). Candidates on or for CPT/OPT are ineligible
