Responsibilities
Perform fusion splicing of loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables, including mid-sheath splices
Complete fiber terminations, OTDR testing, power meter testing, and troubleshooting
Read, interpret, and follow fiber maps, splice diagrams, and route documentation
Drive a company vehicle to job sites and ensure compliance with vehicle maintenance requirements
Maintain accurate and timely documentation including work orders, bills of materials, splice case audits, and OTDR traces
Plan and execute work to meet committed completion dates and outage timelines
Safely operate tools and equipment such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, aerial lifts, ladders, and hand tools
Track hours, materials, manpower, and outage progress for assigned work orders
Safeguard assigned equipment and maintain accurate inventory records
Coordinate building access and on-site activities with customers and stakeholders
Ensure all work meets established client quality and safety standards
Perform additional duties as assigned to support project objectives
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of two years of comparable fiber splicing experience or equivalent training
Demonstrated expertise in fusion splicing loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables
Proficiency with fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting tools and materials
Experience retrieving, analyzing, and processing OTDR traces
Ability to read and comprehend fiber maps and splicing details
Valid Texas driver's license with insurability through the client's insurance carrier
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including on-call support as needed
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Personal hand tools required
English language proficiency for reading, writing, and following technical instructions
