Executive Billing Director

Mushky INC. is seeking an Executive Billing Director to oversee the Billing Operations team. The role involves maintaining account health, ensuring operational accountability, and resolving complex client-facing issues while leading the billing and demographics departments.

Marketing Services

Responsibilities

Conduct weekly accountability meetings with Billing and Demographics Supervisors to review team progress and resolve bottlenecks
Monitor team capacity and coverage; ensure that when staff members are out, "holds" and critical tasks are reassigned and completed to maintain steady claim volume
Act as the primary technical resource for Leadership, providing clear answers on account status and resolving issues they cannot handle personally
Support Account Managers by joining or leading client conversations related to complex billing matters, ensuring accurate explanations, aligned messaging, and confident resolution
Act as the primary billing contact for intricate or escalated billing issues, including direct client communication when technical expertise or executive-level clarity is required
Take proactive measures to resolve billing holds and claims that are stalled in the system, driving them to final resolution
Proactively notify Account Managers regarding significant account health shifts (e.g., if a system error has stopped a client’s claims for a week) to ensure transparency across the organization
Review and ensure that all external communications (emails and calls) from the billing department meet the company’s high standards for professionalism and accuracy
Monitor daily and weekly output for the Billing and Demographics teams
Work directly with department heads to address productivity outliers and ensure team leads are actively managing their staff’s numbers
Ability to navigate and pull data from 3 or 4 different systems to extract actionable information
Monitor claims approaching timely filing limits and manage aging reports in SharePoint to ensure there are no administrative delays
Develop and implement systemic solutions to analyze and prevent the recurrence of billing errors or mistakes in client-side submissions

Required

5+ years of experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle operations, or a closely related operational role
Demonstrated expertise in demonstrating a deep understanding of insurance company operations, policies, and the underlying rationale for their function
Must have proven experience in an administrative or management position, including oversight of teams, workflows, or supervisors
Experience in a client-facing role where you were responsible for explaining complex financial or technical data to external stakeholders
Proven experience managing accountability for team performance, including monitoring output, identifying bottlenecks, and driving follow-through

Preferred

Proficiency in using billing software, including SharePoint and Imagin
