Responsibilities
Review accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports created by staff to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Review and approve budgets and periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
Create and maintain recordkeeping and accounting systems to support organizational needs
Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and recommend or develop solutions to business and financial problems
Advise executives about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts
Review and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies
Analyze and verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning
Perform manual integration work for new lines of business and conduct comprehensive accounting assessments
Manage month-end closing processes and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Navigate ambiguous scenarios and apply professional judgment to provide clarity to stakeholders and leadership
Work with large data sets and understand backend system operations to ensure data integrity
Qualification
Required
Minimum 10 years of accounting experience with large companies, preferably enterprise tech organizations
Minimum 10 years of financial planning and analysis experience
Minimum 5 years of experience with accounting systems and business integrations
Demonstrated experience with system integrations and implementation projects
Proven track record of working with large, complex data sets in an accounting context
Experience managing month-end close processes and financial reporting cycles
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline required
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities
Expert ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Expert ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to complex business scenarios
Expert ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses
Expert knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations as related to accounting
Strong analytical skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity in new processes
Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with accounting software and enterprise resource planning systems
Ability to work with big data sets and understand backend system operations
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide strategic financial guidance
Preferred
Advanced degree in a financial discipline is preferred
CPA certification is highly desirable
