Critical Operations Technician
Prime Data Centers develops and operates data centers for large enterprises, focusing on providing dynamic leasing models. The Critical Operations Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring customer uptime, and supervising contractors to maintain quality service.

Responsibilities
Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center
Troubleshoot of facility events within internal SLAs
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
Work a 12-hour shift (3 and 4 day work weeks days or nights)
Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
Perform BMS (Building Management System) Facility monitoring, logging, reporting, and trending of critical information
Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory
Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies
Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
Qualification
Required
Two or more years of technical training, military training, or workplace equivalency
Background in areas of IT, electrical, and/or mechanical
Possess an understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, Transformers, PLC's, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS', ATS' PDU's, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH's, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety
Current knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e., lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations)
