Watershed Management Program Field Supervisor - Northeast Region

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring a Watershed Management Program Field Supervisor to oversee the Watershed Management regulatory subprograms in the Northeast Region. This role involves managing stormwater, concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO), and nonpoint source programs, while supervising technical staff and collaborating with various stakeholders to implement statewide policy.

Responsibilities

Manage the Department’s Stormwater, Agricultural Nonpoint, and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) regulatory programs
Support a range of internal and external partnerships in the Northeast Region
Supervise water-related professional and technical staff to ensure effective implementation of the Watershed Management program in the assigned geographical area

Required

Professional experience working with agricultural nonpoint pollution abatement, stormwater runoff abatement, and/or the Clean Water Act/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitting program
Experience collaborating on projects with and/or addressing concerns from regulated parties, counterpart state & federal agencies, tribal governments, legislators, trade associations, NGOs, and/or advocacy groups
Experience leading teams of environmental science or regulatory professionals (e.g., project, technical or policy team leader, acting supervisor, etc.)

Preferred

Formal supervisory experience (e.g., hiring, advising, coaching, mentoring, assigning work, etc.) either in a permanent or formal acting assignment
Experience developing and administering policies or regulatory procedures (e.g., drafting, analyzing, public participation, implementation)
Experience leading streamlining or process optimization/improvement initiatives or equivalent process improvement certifications (e.g. Lean 6 Sigma, etc.)
