Responsibilities

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Perform general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing activities
Assist with cash management, AP/AR processing, and other day-to-day accounting tasks as needed
Support the Controller in preparing financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders
Manage the post-award grant lifecycle, ensuring full compliance with federal regulations
Set up grant budgets and monitor financial activity from award through closeout
Prepare variance analyses and provide financial guidance to Program Managers
Coordinate and process budget modifications, reallocations, and amendments
Prepare and submit all required financial reports to funding agencies
Ensure timely and accurate drawdowns, billing, and reporting
Serve as one of the primary leads during the annual external audit
Prepare schedules, documentation, and support required by auditors
Assist with audit request lists, reconciliation issues, and follow-up items
Contribute to strengthening internal controls and improving accounting processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA strongly preferred; at minimum, candidates must have passed at least one section and demonstrate a strong commitment to completing certification
4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a nonprofit organization
Experience with federally funded programs and knowledge of post‑award grant management required
Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
Demonstrated experience supporting or managing the external audit process
Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with nonprofit or grant‑management systems a plus
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
