Utility Engineer (CE Trans Entry or Senior) - $3,000 Sign-on Bonus!
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is seeking a Utility Engineer to perform utility coordination in a transportation setting. This role involves managing utility concerns related to highway improvement projects and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure project success.

Responsibilities
Perform professional civil engineering duties related to utility coordination on transportation improvement projects in both the construction and design phases
Responsible for the utility coordination in the development of highway improvement projects in accordance with the established facilities development process and pertinent rules and regulations
Primarily perform utility coordination and delivery of the region’s projects
Apply a broad working knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the areas of design, real estate, and construction associated with highway improvement projects that have utility concerns or impacts
Serve as an engineering resource to project managers and regional utility coordinators to resolve utility, design and construction conflicts
Assist with, or as a resource to, groups developing utility policy and procedures on a state-wide basis
Responsible for multiple program issues relating to utilities coordination; non-let program performance monitoring and reporting; and construction program support
Develop and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with utility, local officials, department staff, consultants and contractors
Prepare and review construction plans and specifications
Qualification
Required
Upon hire, candidate must have graduated, or will be graduating by December 2026, from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university with a 4-year bachelor's degree (or Master's or PH.D.) in engineering
OR have graduated from an Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) accredited college university with a 4-year bachelor's degree (or Master's or PH.D.) in engineering technology AND hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
OR possess a PE license (registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin or a valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state)
To be eligible at the Senior level, candidates must have at least 4 years of engineering experience after receiving their engineering degree from an accredited college or university
