Responsibilities
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications
Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects
Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members
Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
Qualification
Required
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent), with minimum 15 (Fifteen) years of Wet systems experience
In depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Chilled water systems comprising chillers with VFD, chilled water pumps, chilled water expansion tanks; Water treatment packages; Condenser / Cooling Tower systems comprising condenser water pumps, sand filter skids and filter pumps; Heating water systems comprising hot water boiler and pumps; and other types of skid mounted pump and tank packages
Experience on Liquid cooling systems on Datacenter projects
Good working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, Section IV - Rules for Construction of Heating Boilers, Section VIII - Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels, ASME B31.3 Process Piping, API 617 Process Centrifugal Compressors, API 610 Centrifugal Pumps, API 660 Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, API 661 Air Cooled Heat Exchangers, API 650 Storage Tanks, AWWA Water Tanks and NFPA
Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline
Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved
Able to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently, and to provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified
Experience in writing equipment design specifications
Demonstrated ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks
Preferred
Experience on Dry Systems (HVAC, Cleanrooms, etc.) on Semiconductor and/or Datacenter projects will be an added advantage
