Responsibilities

Serve as technical expert for relevant coastal engineering design tasks and for coastal hydraulic/hydrodynamic modeling tasks
Utilize developed knowledge of the theories of coastal processes, inlet hydrodynamics, circulation, and sediment transport to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and review the development and application of sophisticated numerical models in support of coastal/navigation problem resolutions
Perform and/or review coastal hydraulic/hydrodynamic investigations including analyses of littoral transport, sediment budgets, inlet hydrodynamics, beach nourishment, and related coastal activities
Physically inspect project areas to determine site characterization and necessary features needed to meet project objectives, including assessment of coastal parameters, wave and water current patterns, and other hydraulic/hydrodynamic characteristics
Develop and apply numerical models and procedures for evaluating complex surface water issues that are often impacted by coastal storms and hydrologic effects
Develop data collection scopes of work and independent government estimates for project needs related to topographic/bathymetric data and/or hydraulic/hydrodynamic data
Effectively use data processing tools for pre and post processing of numerical models, geo-spatial data processing and evaluation, and reporting
Manage projects that includes developing internal work plans for coastal engineering analyses, modeling and managing resource needs- budgets and schedules

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Degree must be documented on a transcript
All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment
A trial or probationary period may be required
Direct deposit of pay is required
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Engineer. This license/registration must be in good standing and issued by any one of the 50 states or its territories
This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or its possessions to operate vehicles
