Responsibilities
Lead new product development activities including concept engineering, design analysis, calculations, and technical problem solving
Perform form, fit, and function feasibility studies for new product concepts
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve product design issues related to tooling and manufacturing
Provide technical support to internal departments as needed
Participate in hands-on development and evaluation of prototype components
Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and engineering change documentation
Conduct and participate in design and drawing reviews
Apply project management principles to plan workloads, track tasks, and meet project timelines
Ensure technical quality and adherence to design processes for all assigned work
Utilize Product Data Management (PDM) systems to support product lifecycle management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; concentration in plastics design or molding preferred
Minimum 5+ years of experience designing physical 3D products with significant plastic component content
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels
Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving ability through professional work, coursework, or personal projects
Strong hands-on product development skills; shop or prototype fabrication experience highly preferred
Minimum 5+ years of CAD experience; SolidWorks strongly preferred
Experience working with a variety of materials (especially plastics) and manufacturing processes such as injection molding and thermoforming
Comfortable working in a fast-paced product development environment where designs and priorities evolve quickly
Preferred
Concentration in plastics design or molding preferred
Strong hands-on product development skills; shop or prototype fabrication experience highly preferred
Minimum 5+ years of CAD experience; SolidWorks strongly preferred
