Responsibilities

Develop and prepare civil designs, drawings and specifications for civil and military projects assigned to the Jacksonville District within the State of Florida
Work closely with higher level supervisor to assure that the Section's long-term goals support overall District, Division, and Branch policy and strategic goals
Direct subordinate staff of 5-10 professional engineers in several disciplines in accomplishing the functions for the Section
Serve as the responsible professional for all work done by direct subordinate staff. Performs personnel management functions to guide, direct, and evaluate the technical efforts and work products produced by subordinates
Direct the Section subordinate workforce by applying a comprehensive knowledge of professional civil engineering principles, theories, and methodologies to a variety of complex civil works and military projects
Prepare, manage, and execute budgets utilizing sound business, technical, and financial management principles and practices to ensure resources are applied to maximum effectiveness
Monitor performance of the Section subordinate personnel at appropriate intervals throughout the year and provides necessary mentoring and counseling

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Degree must be documented on a transcript
All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment
A trial or probationary period may be required
A supervisory probationary period may be required
Direct deposit of pay is required
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Engineer. This license/registration must be in good standing and issued by any one of the 50 states or its territories
This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or its possessions to operate vehicles
