Fractional Finance Manager
Ultra Consultants is a leading independent, technology-driven transformation firm that provides high-value services to clients in mid-market manufacturing and distribution industries. The Fractional Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial decision-making to maintain the company's financial health.
Responsibilities
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting
Analyze financial results and provide insights to leadership
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll coordination
Ensure proper revenue recognition and expense classification
Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
Maintain accounting policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local regulations
Manage audits, tax filings, and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial processes
Support risk management and financial governance
Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Monitor variances and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
Partner with leadership on financial planning and decision-making
Provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity
Oversee billing, collections, and vendor payments
Support banking relationships and treasury activities
Partner with HR, Operations, and Sales on financial matters
Support process improvements, systems implementations, and scalability initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience owning month-end close and financial statements
Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
Proficient in MS Office365, SharePoint, and Teams
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP)
Advanced Excel skills
Preferred
CPA or CMA certification
Experience in professional services, consulting, or SaaS environments
Experience scaling accounting processes in a growing organization
Familiarity with revenue recognition for services-based businesses
