SHP Skills Lab Support Technician

Responsibilities
Prepare, set up, and break down skill stations for Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Surgical Technology sessions
Set up mannequins, task trainers, ventilators, surgical instruments, IV pumps, A/V equipment, and specialized discipline-based devices
Perform basic troubleshooting and report maintenance needs
Ensure all equipment is functional, sanitized, and available based on each program’s schedule
Configure rooms for simulations, open labs, check-offs, and interprofessional activities
Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and store all lab linens, towels, gowns, and reusable materials used in the skills labs
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards for all fabric items in accordance with program policies and industry best practices
Track linen inventory levels and report shortages or replacement needs to ensure labs remain fully stocked
Ensure timely turnaround of all laundry to support scheduled classes and maintain continuous lab readiness
Collaborate with instructors to prepare for skills demonstrations and competency evaluations
Assist in organizing interprofessional lab sessions across programs
Support documentation for lab attendance, equipment use, and skill practice logs
Maintain, troubleshoot, and clean: mannequins and task trainers, ventilators and respiratory training devices, surgical equipment, instrument trays, and sterile supplies, A/V and simulation software platforms
Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and consumables; restock and organize materials to support daily needs
Provide department chair with a list of supplies and equipment that needs to be ordered
Maintain safety checks, sterilization practices (as applicable), and general lab organization
Maintain documentation, lab manuals, SDS documents, supply logs, and maintenance records
Support compliance with institutional policies and accreditor expectations (e.g., ACEN, CoARC, CAAHEP)
May be required to perform other duties as assigned
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Healthcare experience in a direct patient care role (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RT student/graduate, ST student/graduate, CRCST)
Familiarity with fundamental patient care skills and basic healthcare equipment
Basic computer and technology skills
Preferred
Current or previous licensure/certification in Nursing (CNA, LPN, RN), Respiratory Therapy (CRT/RRT), Surgical Technology (CST), or CRCST
Experience working in a healthcare skills lab or hospital education department
Experience assisting with or teaching clinical skills
CPR/BLS certification
