High School Lab Intern
City of Olathe provides interns an opportunity to experience working in public service and helps them prepare for their future careers. The Lab Intern will assist in a variety of duties in the Water and Wastewater Laboratory, including conducting tests and coordinating a Geoscience project.

Responsibilities
Documents and records data and observations; logs samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database
Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots field equipment as needed; prepares sample bottles and coolers for sample collection; assists in collection of water and wastewater samples
Collaborates with other team members and supervisor within the laboratory setting
Conducts water and wastewater testing
Performs other laboratory related support activities such as scanning and data entry
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be at least 17 years old, with a preference for those who are over 18 years old
Good computer skills required
Must be a high school student enrolled in a Geosciences Academy
A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are preferred
