Responsibilities

Conduct inspections and accuracy testing of fuel dispensers, meters, and related equipment in accordance with Department of Weights & Measures regulations
Verify proper calibration, labeling, sealing, and operation of petroleum dispensing systems
Perform inspections following new installations, repairs, retrofits, or relocations of dispensers and metering equipment
Identify non-compliant conditions and work with service technicians, contractors, and site operators to ensure corrective actions are completed
Issue inspection tags, seals, documentation, and compliance certifications as required
Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and test results in accordance with regulatory requirements
Stay current with changes to Weights & Measures codes, regulations, and testing procedures
Use calibrated test equipment to verify meter accuracy, flow rates, and volume delivery
Participate in safety meetings and adhere to company safety policies, including hazardous location and vapor safety protocols
Communicate professionally with customers, site personnel, regulatory agencies, and internal teams

Required

Active DO / Weights & Measures Inspector Certification (state-specific, required)
Experience inspecting, testing, or certifying fuel dispensers and petroleum metering systems
Strong knowledge of Weights & Measures regulations, NIST Handbook 44, and applicable state codes
Familiarity with dispenser brands and equipment such as Gilbarco, Wayne, Tokheim, Bennett, and related systems
Experience using calibrated proving measures, test meters, and inspection tools
Ability to interpret inspection standards, identify deficiencies, and document findings accurately
Strong attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance
Comfortable working independently in the field and managing daily inspection schedules
Effective communication skills for working with technicians, customers, and regulators
Solid understanding of safety procedures in hazardous (Class I, Div 1/2) environments
Ability to pass pre-employment physical with extensive lifting (up to 75 lb), twisting, pulling, kneeling, and squatting
Ability to pass pre-employment drug-screening and background check
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record over the past 5 years required
