Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of Accounts Payable administrators, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of payments
Oversee the Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility within the accounts payable function, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and financial objectives
Coach, mentor, and develop Accounts Payable team members, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement
Analyze payment data and provide insightful ad hoc reporting to management as required, contributing to informed decision-making and financial transparency
Collaborate with the IT department to implement and optimize technology solutions for payment processing, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness
Ensure the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and suppliers, adhering to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key vendor partners, facilitating effective communication and resolving issues or disputes promptly
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard against errors, fraud, and non-compliance in payment processing activities, ensuring accuracy and integrity
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounts payable function, implementing best practices and automation tools where applicable
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, such as Finance, Purchasing, and Operations, and communicate updates and insights to stakeholders as necessary
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and company policies related to payment processing, minimizing risk and exposure to financial loss
Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) within the accounts payable function, identifying trends and areas for improvement to optimize performance
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience
Familiarity with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements related to accounts payable processes, such as tax regulations, payment terms, and audit compliance
Strong experience in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Proficient in other desktop tools including MS Office Programs (i.e. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint etc.)
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
3-5 years' experience in accounts payable roles, including payment processing, vendor management, and financial controls
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in supervising or managing a team, preferably in an accounts payable or related financial function
Experience in financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting
Proven experience in building and managing relationships with vendors and external partners
Breadth and depth of expertise in a technical or functional area; knowledge of work processes and tools is generally limited to own area of responsibility or department
Reviewing and improving processes, methods, and tools to increase efficiency and accuracy
