Responsibilities
Perform and maintain standard cost updates, including labor, overhead, and material cost components
Conduct inventory valuation, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
Prepare and reconcile inventory roll-forwards, ensuring accuracy across subledgers
Investigate inventory variances, perform root-cause analysis, and partner with operations to implement corrective actions
Support physical and cycle count programs, including variance explanations and adjustments
Analyze purchase price variance (PPV), usage variances, scrap, and production cost deviations
Lead monthly close activities related to inventory, COGS, cost accruals, and manufacturing overhead
Prepare and post journals for inventory adjustments, reserves, accruals, reclasses, and cost allocations
Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, COGS, and other assigned accounts
Assist with preparing monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance explanations
Partner with Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Engineering to validate cost assumptions and support operational forecasting
Provide cost insights for pricing decisions, margin analysis, and budgeting
Support annual standard cost roll and budgeting related to manufacturing costs
Assist with ERP improvements, data integrity, and process automation
Prepare documentation for internal/external audits, including cost accounting support, inventory samples, and reconciliations
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
Participate in process improvement initiatives to strengthen controls and streamline workflows
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
3–5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in manufacturing cost & inventory accounting (required)
Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory valuation, and COGS
Experience with ERP systems used for manufacturing (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, modeling)
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work cross-functionally
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred
CPA or CMA certification a plus
