Start in 2026 SummerChesterfield County Parks & Recreation is a dynamic department dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the community. The summer intern will work with Therapeutic Recreation to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs for individuals with disabilities while gaining experience in various program environments.

Responsibilities
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the programs and participant needs throughout the season
Work at Beulah Recreation Center and rotate to different camp and program locations
Gain experience as an inclusion coach in different settings
Create and present an end of year presentation to parks and recreation staff regarding their experience
Interview three individuals regarding their job through co-sponsorships or Chesterfield County employees
Create three new programs that will be beneficial for the population
Perform other work as required
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
Minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.8
Ability to participate in the full 10-week program
Exhibit a commitment to public service
Genuine interest in learning about public administration
Pre-employment drug testing required
FBI criminal background check required
Education/degree verification required
Experience working with individuals with disabilities
