County Controller
Weld County Government is seeking a County Controller to deliver comprehensive financial, accounting, and analytical services within the Accounting Division of the Finance Department. The role involves ensuring compliance with accounting principles, preparing financial reports, and managing decentralized accounting functions across the county.

Responsibilities
Ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting standards
Preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR)
Monitoring and improving county-wide accounting processes
Providing financial expertise for departments
Supervising Accounting Division staff
Managing decentralized accounting functions across the county
Coordinating and reconciling banking and credit card processes
Supporting accounting system interface development
Developing and managing the Accounting Department budget
Fostering collaborative relationships with departments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Deep knowledge of GAAP, GASB, GFOA reporting standards, Uniform Guidance/A-133, and Colorado statutory requirements for counties
Proven experience coordinating external audits and producing ACFR/PAFR
Proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and workflow systems (e.g., OnBase)
Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and the ability to build cooperative working relationships
