Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The Process Maintenance and Decontamination Services (PMDS) group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop and implement designs, installation, maintenance, and support of control systems for their facilities.

Responsibilities

Knowledge and experience with applying and demonstration of engineering design cycle principles: requirements gathering, design, and implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation
Experience with designs, completed installations, maintenance, or technical products
Knowledge and experience in the design and development of computer-based data acquisition systems, such as Allen Bradley/Rockwell Software programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA, and industrial computers
Knowledge of NFPA 70,70E,and79
Demonstrated broad knowledge of electronics, instrumentation, and control-systems hardware and software
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including technical writing and technical presentations
Knowledge of distributed control systems and networking
Knowledge of control & data acquisition theory and instrumentation hardware

Required

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution related to the occupation combined with 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience directly related to the occupation
Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related science, 2 years job related experience, and 1 year of nuclear experience
This position will require 24/7 coverage, which could include working a shift/weekend schedule
Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances
This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing

Preferred

Active DOE Q clearance and HRP Certified
Glovebox Operator (GBO)
Fissile Material Handler (FMH)
Electrical Safety Officer training is desired
