WSU PREP Program Assistant

Automotive
Responsibilities
Assists in planning, preparation and coordination of special WSU PREP learning activities
Performs the duties of professional teaching assistants for the WSU PREP class instructor
Ensures the safety and appropriate behavior of program participants
Attends classes and laboratories with students
Tutors students and helps with homework as needed during class times
Grades homework and special assignments, quizzes and tests
Maintains records of student performance
Provides supervision during special events
Acts as a near-peer mentor to students
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent plus one years education at an accredited institution in a major or discipline related to the Summary of Duties or an associate's degree in a discipline related to the Summary of Duties is required
Criminal Background check is required as a condition of employment
Preferred
Skill in leading classroom discussions/activities
Skill in effective verbal and written communication
Ability to assess student work according to general instructional standards
Ability to supervise 25 middle school and junior high students in a virtual classroom setting
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records
Ability to tutor Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics with students one-to-one or in small groups
